5 things Tottenham must fix during the November international break

Tottenham Hotspur are not in a good place as they enter the international break. They lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town, which was one of their worst defeats under Ange Postecoglou. This result meant they missed out on a chance to be third in the Premier League. Although the table is tight, Tottenham’s inconsistency is frustrating for fans. They have won against big teams like Manchester City and Aston Villa but also lost to teams like Galatasaray and Ipswich in a short period.
Tottenham’s main problem is conceding the same type of goals. They struggle with defending crosses from the left side. When teams cross the ball, the defenders get pulled out of position, leaving space for attackers to score. This has happened against teams like Leicester City, Brighton, and West Ham. If this problem is not fixed, Tottenham will continue to lose goals in the same way.
Another issue is the limited use of James Maddison. He is the most creative player in the squad, but recently he has not started every game. In the match against Ipswich, he only played for six minutes, which was a strange decision. Tottenham needed his creativity to break down a tough defense, but he didn’t have enough time to make an impact. Postecoglou needs to use Maddison more often to help create chances for the team.
Son Heung-min has also not been playing well. He has had some injuries and has not been able to find his rhythm. Although he has scored three goals and got three assists, this is not what he is capable of. He has often played wide on the wing, but he is most dangerous when he is closer to the goal. Postecoglou needs to get Son more involved in central areas to help him play at his best.
Tottenham also miss Micky van de Ven. He is an important player for the team, and his absence has been felt. Radu Dragusin, who replaced him, has not performed well. Dragusin was partly responsible for Ipswich’s second goal, and he does not have the same speed as van de Ven. Tottenham’s style of play relies on van de Ven’s pace and skill, so they need him fit and available as soon as possible.
Finally, the fans need to be patient. It is understandable that they are frustrated after losing to Ipswich, a team that had not won a game before. But Postecoglou is still in his second season, and the team is still rebuilding after losing Harry Kane. There will be more difficult moments, but fans must give Postecoglou time to fix the problems. He has had a good record so far, and there is hope for the future, but there will be some pain along the way.
Tottenham can improve if they fix these issues. They need to stop conceding easy goals, use their creative players more, get Son back to his best, get van de Ven fit, and give Postecoglou time to work. The future could be bright for Tottenham, but they need to be patient and support the team through the ups and downs.
