Ange’s star signing ready to return for Arsenal derby

Tottenham Hotspur’s new striker Dominic Solanke is prepared to resume playing after recovering from an injury, according to manager Ange Postecoglou. Solanke, who joined Tottenham from Bournemouth in a transfer deal potentially worth up to £65 million (approximately AUD 127 million), experienced an ankle injury following his debut match against Leicester.

Consequently, he missed the subsequent two games. Postecoglou has expressed his satisfaction at having both Solanke and defender Micky van de Ven available again, as Van de Ven also missed the defeat to Newcastle before the international break.

Postecoglou confirmed on Friday that Micky van de Ven has fully recovered, having trained extensively during the international break. Dominic Solanke has also returned to first-team training, and Postecoglou stated that if both players successfully complete training the following day, they should be available for selection.

The Australian manager’s team has had a mixed start to the current season, accruing only four points from the nine available. Tottenham has struggled to convert their numerous goal attempts, having recorded 48 attempts without sufficient results.

Despite this, Postecoglou remains optimistic, emphasizing the need for consistency and persistence. He believes that their approach, which has seen them dominate their matches despite the lack of results, will eventually yield positive outcomes over the course of the 38-game season.

In a separate development, Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to start for Tottenham in their upcoming fixture, despite facing Football Association charges related to comments made about his teammate Son Heung-min. Bentancur’s remarks, made during an interview in his home country, included a controversial statement that “they all look the same.” This comment was deemed inappropriate, and Bentancur has since apologized to Son for what he described as a “very bad joke.”

Postecoglou acknowledged that the charge against Bentancur was anticipated and expressed that the process must unfold naturally. He emphasized that the situation is an opportunity for learning and growth, rather than merely focusing on punishment. Bentancur’s apology has been accepted by Son, who understands that his teammate has made a mistake and that they share a close relationship.
