Festus Osifo is a prominent figure in Nigeria’s labor movement. He is the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria and has been re-elected as the President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

Festus Osifo was re-elected as the President of PENGASSAN during the 7th Triennial National Delegates Congress held in Abuja in May, 2023 and he has been actively involved in advocating for workers’ rights, including issues related to the minimum wage and its value in the face of currency devaluation.

Festus Osifo Early Life and Educational Background

Festus Osifo was born in the 1980s and he attended Iyobosa Primary School. He then proceeded to Immaculate Conception College in Benin City, where he obtained his West Africa Examination Certificate. 

After completing his secondary education, Festus Osifo’s pursuit of engineering took him to Yaba College of Technology, where he earned his Ordinary National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He then furthered his education at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), obtaining a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

His academic journey did not stop there. Festus Osifo went on to achieve a first-class degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He also holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Lagos Business School.

Festus Osifo’sprofessional journey began with over 16 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, where he made significant contributions to both Schlumberger Nigeria Ltd. and Total Energies Exploration and Production Nigeria Ltd.

In the labor movement, Festus Osifo has been a formidable figure. He was elected as the President General of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria, a position that places him at the forefront of labor advocacy and workers’ rights in the country.

Prior to his role in the TUC, Festus Osifo served as the National President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). His leadership in PENGASSAN was marked by his efforts to address the challenges faced by professionals in the oil and gas sector, advocating for better working conditions and fair practices.

His influence extends beyond his immediate professional responsibilities. Festus Osifo is also the CEO and founder of the Save Our Children Education Initiative (SOCEI).

Throughout his career, Festus Osifo has held various leadership roles, including serving as the PENGASSAN Producers Forum Chairman between 2016 and 2018.
