Man City to battle Chelsea for €35m Serie A star who’ll replace six-time PL champion

Manchester City is looking to sign Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar. They are planning for the possible departure of Ederson, who has been with the club for a long time. Ederson has played an important role in Manchester City’s six Premier League title wins under manager Pep Guardiola. Now, City might be in the market for a new goalkeeper as they plan their next steps.
Svilar, who plays for Roma, is a target for several clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle. The 25-year-old has been performing well, keeping 11 clean sheets in 29 Serie A matches this season. Despite this, there is a chance he could leave Roma, as he is not happy with the club’s offer for a new contract. Svilar’s current contract with Roma runs until 2027, but the possibility of him leaving has caught the attention of clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle. Other clubs, like Bayern Munich and Monaco, are also interested in him. If Roma decides to sell Svilar, he could cost around €35 million.
Ederson’s future with Manchester City is uncertain. He has a contract that runs until 2026, and there has been interest from Saudi clubs, specifically Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr. Both clubs want to sign a big-name goalkeeper, and Ederson is their top choice. However, City is asking for a high price of around €50 million for the Brazilian goalkeeper. This price might be too high for the Saudi clubs, and as a result, they may look for other options. If City refuses to lower their asking price, it seems unlikely that Ederson will be sold this summer.
Chelsea already has a number of goalkeepers, such as Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, and Lucas Bergstrom. Kepa Arrizabalaga is also still part of the team, though he is on loan, and Mike Penders is another option for the club. Therefore, it’s uncertain whether Chelsea will be willing to spend money on a new goalkeeper, but they have been linked with other stoppers, including AC Milan’s Mike Maignan. Newcastle may also be in the market for a goalkeeper. Nick Pope, who is 32 years old, is the team’s current first-choice goalkeeper. Martin Dubravka, who is 36, signed a one-year contract extension in February, but his future is also uncertain.
In other transfer news, Manchester City is reportedly interested in signing Everton’s star player as a potential replacement for one of their key players. The club is also said to be in the race for a £50 million center-back talent. Furthermore, City is planning a £125 million bid for a playmaker who has responded positively to interest from Guardiola.
As Manchester City’s transfer plans unfold, it remains to be seen who will stay and who will go, as the club looks to make big moves in the market.
