Manchester City are now ‘working tirelessly’ to complete the signing of £26m star this week

Manchester City’s summer transfer window has already been wild, but the drama isn’t slowing down. Pep Guardiola has welcomed six new signings into his squad, yet the club is still restless with days left before the transfer deadline. Now, all eyes are on a potential blockbuster arrival – Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper who could soon be wearing sky blue.

According to multiple reports, City are “working tirelessly” to push the deal through before the window shuts. The Premier League champions are prepared to pay around  26m (€30m) for the Italian international, with further bonuses likely to be included.

But this pursuit is not happening in isolation. The future of Ederson plays a key role in whether Donnarumma joins Guardiola’s squad. The Brazilian goalkeeper has been linked strongly with Galatasaray, and Tottenham are also circling for Savinho. Should both players leave, City’s need for reinforcements would be immediate and urgent.

For Guardiola, Donnarumma makes perfect sense. The 26-year-old is already one of the world’s most established goalkeepers, a towering figure with Champions League pedigree and international success under his belt. He has faced City twice in his career – and won both times, conceding only two goals and keeping one clean sheet. One of those matches was a bitter memory for City fans: a 4-2 defeat to PSG after they had led by two goals at the Parc des Princes.

City don’t want this deal dragged out until January. The club feels that completing the transfer now gives them the best chance to get the Italian at a reasonable price while also ensuring they don’t face him in Europe in the near future. Alfredo Pedullà reports that negotiations are active and ongoing, with both sides pushing toward an agreement before deadline day chaos.

The clock is ticking, and City know that waiting too long could complicate things. PSG will not want to lose their number one goalkeeper without a replacement lined up, while Ederson’s departure still isn’t guaranteed. Yet, behind the scenes, City’s transfer team is said to be working “around the clock” to make it happen.

If the move goes through, it will be one of the most eye-catching deals of the summer. Donnarumma’s arrival would not only give Guardiola a world-class shot-stopper but also send a message across Europe – Manchester City are not slowing down, even after years of dominance.

Fans are now left waiting to see if deadline day delivers another twist. Could Ederson really leave? Will PSG finally agree to the £26m package? And will Donnarumma be unveiled at the Etihad as City’s next giant signing? One thing is certain – Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City never sleep during a transfer window
