Mathys Tel will join Tottenham Hotspur permanently after his loan from Bayern Munich ends this season, according to manager Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou spoke before the second leg of the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool, which will take place on Thursday. Tel joined Bayern Munich from Stade Rennes in 2022 with a four-year contract. He extended his contract with Bayern in March last year, which runs until 2029. He has scored 16 goals in 83 appearances for Bayern Munich but has had trouble securing a regular place in the starting lineup.
This season, Tel has played 14 games for Bayern but has not scored. Postecoglou expressed confidence that Tel will play a big role at Spurs this season and beyond. He also mentioned that Tel is eager to leave a strong impression on the team. Postecoglou said, “Tel will be a Tottenham player. I think he will show everyone he will be a Tottenham player in the next six months. I didn’t bring him here for six months.” The Australian coach made these comments while talking to reporters on Wednesday.
When asked how he convinced Tel to join Tottenham on deadline day, Postecoglou said it wasn’t about smooth talking or selling. He added, “There is a good story here that I really believe in.” Postecoglou also mentioned that Spurs have been active in the mid-season transfer window, bringing in young players like Tel, 26-year-old defender Kevin Danso, and 21-year-old goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky to help their injury-hit squad.

I firmly believe it will take us to success. But there’s no guarantees.”
