Rangers have agreed to swap Raskin for spfl superstar

Rangers remain in talks to sell Nicolas Raskin this summer amid significant interest from a number of clubs across Europe, with the Belgium international’s future at Ibrox appearing increasingly likely to lie elsewhere before the transfer window closes. Raskin, who made six appearances for his country at the World Cup this summer, still has two years remaining on his current contract with Rangers, but he is keen to explore a possible move away from the club, and it’s understood that a sale is now considered likely to take place before the end of the window.
La Liga side Real Betis are among the clubs keeping the closest tabs on Raskin’s situation, and according to The Daily Record, they remain in active talks over a possible deal for the 25-year-old midfielder. It’s reported that Betis are pushing to get an agreement over the line quickly, but they face genuine competition for his signature, with Aston Villa and Hull City both credited with interest, alongside a number of unnamed clubs from England, Germany and Italy also said to be monitoring developments closely.
Rangers have reportedly set their asking price for Raskin at €23.5million, which converts to around £20million, and should the Belgian depart Ibrox for that fee before the summer window shuts, it would represent an all-time record sale for the Scottish club, surpassing any transfer fee Rangers have previously received for an outgoing player. Derek McInnes’ side have already fielded multiple offers for Raskin, and while none of those bids have yet matched the club’s valuation, the expectation within the game is that a sale is highly likely to be finalised given how keen the player himself is to move on, particularly following his impressive form representing Belgium at the World Cup.
Raskin’s importance to Rangers over the course of last season is reflected clearly in his overall numbers, having made 50 appearances across all competitions while contributing seven goals and nine assists from midfield. His current Estimated Transfer Value sits at €11.4million, a figure that sits well below the €23.5million valuation Rangers are said to be holding out for, illustrating just how much of a premium the Ibrox club are placing on the player given his contract situation, World Cup exposure, and the level of interest currently circling him from across multiple leagues.
This transfer saga arrives amid what has already been an extremely active summer for Rangers in the market. The club have been busy on the incomings side, having already completed the signings of Ivor Pandur, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin, while also bringing in Ben Godfrey on loan to strengthen their defensive options. Beyond those confirmed additions, Rangers have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Partizan Belgrade midfielder Vanja Dragojevic for a fee in the region of €5.5million, and the club remain in ongoing talks over a separate deal for Jens Hjerto-Dahl, suggesting further midfield and defensive reinforcements could yet arrive before the window closes.
On the outgoings side, Rangers have already sold goalkeeper Jack Butland to Hull City, while a number of players have departed Ibrox upon the expiration of their contracts, including Ben Davies, long-serving former captain James Tavernier, Kieran Wright and Leon King. Elsewhere, promising youngster Bailey Rice has joined Kilmarnock on a season-long loan deal, continuing the pattern of fringe or developing players being sent out to gain further first-team experience away from Ibrox.
Taken together, the picture emerging at Rangers this summer is one of a club conducting business on multiple fronts simultaneously — building a stronger, more competitive first-team squad through a series of incoming additions, while also generating significant funds through the departure of players no longer considered central to Derek McInnes’ plans. Should the Raskin deal be finalised at anywhere close to Rangers’ stated valuation, it would provide a substantial financial boost to further fund the club’s ongoing recruitment drive, potentially unlocking additional targets before the transfer window shuts, or strengthening the club’s overall financial position heading into a season where ambitions appear to be rising significantly under their new manager.
