Joe Ajaero was born on December 17, 1964, in Imo State where he spent his Formative years. For his primary education, Joe Ajaero attended Emekuku Primary School, where he received the basic education that would serve as a stepping stone for his future endeavors. He then proceeded to Government Secondary School in Owerri for his secondary education.

In 1990, Ajaero graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His passion for journalism led him to pursue further studies in this field, and in 1994, he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the Times Journalism Institute.
